Right out at the end of the Kurnell peninsula, wedged between Botany Bay and the national park, the Kurnell Rec Club is a proper locals’ club with none of the polish and all of the character. The Helm Room opens onto a freshly done beer garden, while the Anchor Bar, Pergola and Top Deck catch the afternoon sun and the water views. It is the heart of the peninsula and it has never once pretended to be anything else.
